The McMaster Health Systems Workforce Collaborative partners with leading international institutions to advance comparative health systems research, identifying shared challenges and context-specific solutions that inform local policy and workforce decision-making.

Global Observatory of Long-Term Care

The Global Observatory of Long-Term Care (GOLTC) is an international network that facilitates cross-national learning and strengthen LTC systems. The GOLTC aims to showcase how different regions are addressing LTC challenges by providing a public platform for LTC research. This European collaboration enables us to participate in webinars on key topics in LTC and share publications and events through their news page and monthly newsletter.

World Health Organization

We participate in a Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centers for Community Nursing and Midwifery meetings annually to report on nursing human resources in Canada. We also developed training seminars on Advanced Practice Nursing, conducted a needs assessment and recommendations related to Specialty in Nursing Practice in Guyana and supported the development of WHO State of the World of Nursing Report.

Pan American Health Organization

We have partnered with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)’s Pan American Network of Nursing and Midwifery Collaborating Centers consisting of 17 centres situated in universities and nursing schools that provide nursing and midwifery input to PAHO/WHO. In a commentary published by PAHO, we presented an overview of the formation and evolution of the network, its impact on education, research, policy and communication and the benefits of membership.

This network builds and strengthens collective infrastructure that enables our engagement in education and research to enhance human capacity in northern regions.

Humanitas University and Research Hospital (Milan, Italy)

Humanitas University (HUNIMED) leads undergraduate and graduate education in medicine, biomedical sciences, and the health professions, supported by its Clinical Epidemiology and Research Centre and two WHO Collaborating Centres. Together, we have presented interdisciplinary, intersectoral research focused on social and human determinants of health affecting undocumented migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
