Our team at McMaster University is leading a province-wide initiative to improve the employment outcomes of Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) in Ontario through the Ontario Bridge Training Program (OBTP). With support from the Government of Ontario, our project supports IENs in securing meaningful employment aligned with their training, while helping healthcare organizations strengthen and diversify their nursing workforce.
We work closely with IENs, healthcare employers, and system partners to identify and remove employment barriers, promote inclusive hiring practices, and foster long-term workforce integration. Through this project, we aim to contribute to a more equitable and resilient healthcare system by ensuring IENs are supported, valued, and integrated as essential members of Ontario’s nursing workforce.
