A Collaborative Employment Strategy – Integrating Internationally Educated Nurses into Ontario’s Workforce

Context

Ontario faces persistent nursing shortages, and many internationally educated nurses (IENs) struggle to secure commensurate employment despite recent registration.

Project Description

We are leading a province-wide initiative to improve the employment outcomes of IENs in Ontario through the Ontario Bridge Training Program (OBTP). The project maintains and expands partnerships with healthcare employers, postsecondary institutions, regulators, and NGOs to ensure strong employer engagement and access to the local IEN supply.

Expected Outcomes

The initiative will support IENs in securing meaningful employment aligned with their skills and qualifications, while helping healthcare organizations strengthen and diversify their nursing workforce and contribute to a more sustainable and diverse nursing workforce in Ontario. /p>
